Electronic Documents (e-docs)
Adept produces Electronic Documents (e-docs). These are produced in a varierty of file types but the most popular are Rich Text Format (RTF), MSWord (DOC) and Portable Document Format (PDF).
As PC's, laptops, tablets and other media devices become increasingly more popular it is no surprise that their arrival in almost every house has had it's impact on the accessiblity of documents to disabled people.
The most noticable feature is that end-users are now free to 'manipulate' files into a format that is accessible to them.
The most popular use of e-docs is for On Screen Readers (OSR's). Users with appropriate software (JAW's, Windows 'On Screen Narrator' and many others) can take a file and use their PC to 'read' the file for them.
These applications can also be used to read websites and are compatible with most common PC applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel etc.
Our service creates and converts files to ensure that recipients receive their documents in an accessible way. This includes:
- Extract and re-format text in required format/file type
- Amend layout of tables, charts and diagrams to ensure correct reading order
- Add links and lists for user navigation
- Add 'tags' to text, objects and pictures to ensure they are accessible to the OSR
- Add description in object help menus to assist any users that have difficulty
We provide e-doc distribution on DVD, CD, Diskette, Email, Memory Stick and various other formats.
