UK’s first internet ordering service for Braille, Audio & Large-Print

Tim Finch from Adept transcription, talks about ‘Fastrack’. Adept’s new internet ordering service for Braille, Audio and Large Print.

Adept, the disability equality company, today launched the UK’s first internet ordering service specifically for converting electronic documents, such as word or pdf files into Braille, Audio and Large-Print. It’s fast turn-around and low cost are a welcome rarity in transcription provision.

“We originally designed the service for the benefit of individuals” Says Tim, “enabling them to send out letters and greetings etc to family, friends or any other format users they know.”

“However, during the testing stages we realised the potential benefit for organisations. Estate Agents or Solicitors can link to our website and the next day the clients will have the documents. Large Corporate Organisations or Councils, using the Fastrack service, can allow all departments or outlets to control different formats to customers. This means that the organisation as a whole has the facility to fulfil alternative format requests simply by informing all staff of the Adept account. As each request is received, staff simply go to the Adept website, fill in the request form and the formats are sent out within 24 hours”

Fastrack has r
educed the complication associated with the ordering of alternative formats and has also made it easy for all to fulfil their legal requirement to communicate with disabled people.”

"The Feedback we have recieved so far has been great. Format user's enjoy the quick delivery of their formats and customers get the advantage of low cost"

“Personally,” Tim continues, “I think that the Fastrack service is of benefit to everyone, including Adept. Companies will benefit from the ease of use, fast turn-around and low cost. Individuals can now communicate respectfully and appropriately with any format users they know, and above all Adept and all of its staff have created a service that increases the access to information for disabled people, which is the sole purpose of Adept being formed”
